Preview Your Roblox Icon and Thumbnails
Drop in your icon and thumbnails. See them in Charts, search and on the game page, on phone, tablet and desktop.
You can paste an image or a link too. Square images go to the icon, wide ones to thumbnails.

Preview Your Roblox Icon and Thumbnails Before You Publish
Roblox shows your game in very different shapes depending on where a player finds it. Charts and the Home page use the square icon at 150x150. Search uses your first thumbnail at about 259x146. The game page runs every thumbnail through a 640x360 carousel. The preview above renders all of them at those sizes, next to real games, in both light and dark themes.
Drop in draft images to test them before they go live, or paste a Roblox game link to pull in the live icon, thumbnails, name, rating and player count. Add a search like "obby" and your game shows up among the real Roblox games for it.
How to Test a Roblox Thumbnail or Icon
- Drop your icon and thumbnails into the boxes at the top, type your game name and click Preview it. To start from a live game instead, click Already published? Paste a game link (for example
https://www.roblox.com/games/9391468976/Jujutsu-Shenanigans). - Switch between Charts, Search and Game page, and between phone, tablet and desktop. Click Add version to try up to three icon and thumbnail sets, then tick Compare side by side.
- Check the phone views last. A 90x90 icon on a phone is where weak designs fall apart.

Roblox Icon and Thumbnail Sizes
- Icon: upload at 512x512, square. Shown at 150x150 in desktop Charts and around 90x90 on phones, with rounded corners.
- Thumbnail: upload at 1920x1080, 16:9, under 3MB. Shown at about 259x146 in desktop search, about 180x101 in phone search, and 640x360 on the game page.
- How many: one icon per language, and up to 10 thumbnails or videos.
Thumbnails that aren't 16:9 get stretched, not cropped, so a 4:3 image will look squashed in every view above.
Tips for an Icon That Gets Clicked
Design for 90 pixels
Most players see your icon on a phone. If the main subject isn't clear at 90x90, simplify it. One character or object, big, with a clean background, beats a busy scene.
Skip small text
A word or two can work on an icon, but anything smaller than about a fifth of the image height turns into noise in Charts. Put the game name in the title, not the art.
Stand out from the row
Look at the Charts preview and squint. If your icon blends in with the games around it, change the background color or push the contrast. Bright, saturated colors hold up best in both themes.
Match the icon and first thumbnail
Players often see the icon on Home and then the thumbnail in search or on the game page. Keeping the same character or color scheme across both makes the game feel familiar the second time.
Let Roblox test the rest
Once you have two or three strong thumbnails, upload them all and turn on thumbnail personalization in the Creator Dashboard. Roblox shows different thumbnails to different players and favors the ones that lead to longer play sessions.
